This natural lot was produced in Hambela, near the village of Buku Sayisa, which translates to “Blessed Valley”.
To effectively categorise our Ethiopian coffees, our team created a “flavour wheel”, where we have allocated different flavour profiles to colours.
This coffee falls into the "Diima" flavour profile. Diima means "red" in the Oromiffa language, and it indicates that you will find intensity, fruit candy, violet florals, and tropical fruit like mango & banana in your cup.
This coffee comes from the sub-region Buku Sayisa, meaning “Blessed Valley”. It is located in Oromia, Guji Zone, in the Woreda of Hambela. Coffee here is grown at an altitude of 2000 - 2300 masl.
The elevated altitudes play a significant role in shaping the flavour profiles produced at this washing station, as harvesting typically takes place later in the season compared to other regions. This results in slower cherry maturation for better sugar development, leading to a distinctive, sweeter flavour in the coffees.
